Marc Sabbah (b.1988 New York City) is the new face of classical viola playing. Drawing on the past and embracing the present, Marc Sabbah creates his own sound that resonates deep with his public. Described by conductor Zubin Mehta as 'a wonderful player', Marc is regularly invited as guest principal violist of the Israeli Philharmonic. Currently the youngest solo violist of the Belgian National Orchestra,Marc Sabbah performs concerts around Europe as a chamber musician, soloist and teacher. Currently a professor of viola at the Royal Conservatory of Mons in Belgium, Marc is invited regularly to give masterclasses and performances with the International Viola Congress, the Dutch Viola Society, the Athens State Orchestra as well as solo appearences with the Belgian National Orchestra, Camerata Rousseau in Switzerland and many others. As a recent First Grand Prize winner of the 1st Manhattan International Music Competition and Berlin Rising Stars Competition, Marc has performed a solo recital at Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic Hall. Having graduated as 'Cum Laude' from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Marc was a pupil of Nobuko Imai, winning 1st prize at the 2013 National Viola Competition. The coming 2018-2019 season has seen Marc Sabbah performing in Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, a tour to Australia and Korea as with Zubin Mehta and the Israeli Philharmonic, along with radio interviews at Belgian Musique3 and a solo CD release.
